Why it’s important not to defraud the bankruptcy trustee.

WXVT television displayed an article from the Associated Press yesterday about a  Mississippi woman sentenced for bankruptcy fraud.

Apparently she received a settlement from a personal injury lawsuit after filing for bankruptcy. She received more than $255,000, but didn’t relay this information to the bankruptcy trustee. This lady was sentenced to nearly 3 years in prison and ordered to pay restitution in the amount of $50,000.

When the bankruptcy court demands full disclosure of assets, they mean it.
